”We are as children compared with the Wrights.” ~ a fledgling French pilot in 1908

A sixty foot monument honoring the Wright brothers sits atop Kill Devil Hill, which is really just a ninety foot sand dune covered with grass. Many glider flights happened here before the first engine-powered flight by the Wright brothers.

An exact replica of the Wright’s first plane.

Kodi stepped off the path and had this lovely little cactus lance him with three of its spines. It’s about the size of a quarter. He was limping for the next hour after I removed the spurs but he recovered well.

The museum, monument, and sculptures are all awe-inspiring and worth a visit to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. And to think…it was only a hundred and twenty years ago that these men first flew. Look how far we’ve come thanks to two bicycle mechanics from Dayton, Ohio.

I hope you realize that aviation is proof that dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them.
The gam continues…
