”Foam is white and waves are grey; Beyond the sunset leads my way.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

After spending a relaxing week on the beach at Cape Hatteras we drove south just a few hours to New Bern, North Carolina. Back in its heyday, this town was settled by immigrants from Switzerland who named it after their former capital. For a time, New Bern was the colonial capital of North Carolina and became known as “the Athens of the South.”
Another somewhat significant historical fact about New Bern… it’s the birthplace of Pepsi~Cola!

We arrived brimming with enthusiasm (as you can see) at one of the nicest KOA’s we’ve ever been to. It was so clean and so peaceful. In fact, this New Bern Kampground Of America was voted Best KOA in America for 2019! After setting up our campsite we walked down to the camp’s dock that extends out into the Neuse River…

…to hang out…

…and watch one of the prettiest sunsets ever.

We will definitely camp at this KOA for a much longer stay should we ever pass this way again. We tried to extend our stay but our site was already reserved.
I hope you enjoy many sunsets in your lifetime.
The gam continues…
