”What is there more kindly than the feeling between host and guest.” ~ Aeschylus

Before we began this cross-country exodus we joined a camping group called Harvest Host, which is an organization that connects you with small businesses and homeowners that allow you to park/camp on their property. You pay a small administrative fee to get a list of these places that are located throughout the country with over five thousand places to camp. Most of these businesses/homeowners/breweries/wineries/churches/attractions allow you to boondock for a night for free and simply ask that you purchase some of their wares. If at a winery, buy a bottle of vino. If at a brewery, a six-pack. If at a farm, some eggs. And so on…

Today we’re taking a respite at a farm. The owner’s here allow you to stay for free and only ask for a small stipend if you’d like to use the water, electric and sewer hook-ups. Everything is done online so we haven’t seen any humans. We pretty much have the place to ourselves. Our only neighbors are a handful of hens and chickens, two friendly bovines (a bull and a cow), hundreds of dragonflies, and at dusk, some mosquitoes that could pick you up and fly you away like the flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz! Kodi loves all the space and freedom to run.

In the coming month we hope to camp at a drive-in theater and an alligator farm! Stay tuned!

I hope you believe that tomorrow can be better than today and it gives you strength to keep going.

The gam continues…
