“Valor is stability, not of legs and arms, but of courage and the soul.” ~ Michel de Montaigne

Mt. Soledad is a National Veterans Memorial that sits atop this peak and has a 360° view of most of San Diego County. In the following pictures you can see the far Pacific horizon to the west with Hawaii only three thousand miles away, all the way up to the snow-covered peaks to the north, the eastern lands that lead up into the mountains and beyond to the desert, and to the south, where laid out before you is Mission Bay, the beaches, Coronado, the city-skyline of San Diego and, on the far southern horizon, the country of Mexico.

Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial was created to honor and recognize the thousands of military men and women who sacrificed for this country. It is considered one of the most unique veterans memorials in America in that it is the only memorial that honors veterans, living or deceased, from the Revolutionary War through to the current war on terror. As you can see by the pictures they have their image and military accomplishments etched in black marble. This solemn place was created in 1954 and has doubled the number of honorees in just the last five years from three thousand to six thousand veterans with more being added daily. It is truly a special place for its spectacular views and its awe inspiring tribute to those who heard the call of duty for this great country. 🇺🇸

I hope you’re inspired by the legacy of these heroes.
